Periodontal Health & Cosmetic Dentistry | | Dental Exam | A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by Dr. Weems at your initial dental visit. At regular check-up exams, Dr. Weems and the highly experienced hygienist will include the following:
-
Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs): Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.
-
Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums for any signs of oral cancer.
| | Professional Dental Cleaning | Professional dental cleanings are performed by our registered dental hygentists. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following:
Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental instruments.
Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva. The bacteria produce toxins (poisons) that inflame the gums. This inflammation is the start of periodontal disease.
Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.

Veneers: These are thin custom made shells that are designed to cover the front sides of the teeth. Veneers are made to treat unwanted spaces, discolorations, poorly shaped or crooked teeth. They are also used to cover teeth that are chipped or worn. Veneers are a great way to permanently improve your smile.
Teeth Whitening: This involves bleaching the teeth to remove stained or discolorations from a number of causes like food stains. Whitening your teeth is an instant improvement to brighten your smile, and results get better with each treatment.
Composite Fillings: These are tooth colored fillings used to repair a tooth that is affected by decay, cracks, fractures, etc. The decayed or affected portion of the tooth will be removed and then filled with a composite filling. Our technology provides you a natural looking fix to tooth decay without using metal fixtures. All Porcelain Crowns (no metal structure): A porcelain crown covers, or caps, a tooth to restore it to its normal size and shape. They are used to resurface and rebuilds the tooth using all porcelain material, with no metal structure, to reveal a natural looking solution you will be sure to smile about.
Bonding: This treatment is used to fill any unwanted spaces and provides a natural blending to your own teeth. Bonding is an affordable option to treat small gaps between your teeth.
Bridges:
Implants: A dental implant is much like a natural tooth. The natural tooth has a root that is attached to your jawbone. An implant uses a metal post that is anchored below the gum, in the bone, that the porcelain crown is then attached to blend and replace missing teeth. Implants are a great option for patients that are in good health with healthy gums.
Esthetic Gum Contouring: Gums are the framework for our teeth. When gum tissue is red, swollen, and unsymmetrical in appearance it can distract from otherwise healthy teeth. Sometimes the heigth of the gum tissue is different from tooth to tooth and might sit lower on one tooth opposed to the matching one next to it. Gum contouring, or a gum lift, can make the framework of your teeth even and create longer looking teeth.
Pain Abatement & Root Canal Therapy: When there is a deep crack, cavity or traumatic injury done to a tooth and causes the root, or pulp, to die it allows for bacteria to enter the root canal causing an abscess. At this time you will generally experience some pain related to the inflammation in the canal. A root canal offers a permanent solution to preventing another abscess and promotes periodontal health by clearing all of the infection and dead tissue.
